Liquid Assets Boost Students at Forge

Ormiston Forge Academy in Cradley Heath is on a mission to improve both the learning environment for existing pupils and work with local primaries through an innovative new partnership.

Sutton Coldfield based Filtered Water Coolers (FWC) Ltd were invited to sponsor a marketing initiative to fund Key Stage 2 learning resources from SKIPS Educational to be given free to primary schools in the Cradley Heath. SKIPS Educational was started by Ash Sharma, a concerned father who was keen to help his daughter complete her homework. Ash designed some simple and fun puzzles for Key Stage 2 maths and English which, due to their popularity, were then picked up by Waterstones and made into books for nationwide distribution.

The project already yielded excellent results according to Andrew Burns, Principal at Ormiston Forge Academy: “As part of our duty to the local community we have had help from Filtered Water Coolers Limited who assisted financially by sponsoring purchases of Key stage 2 books for use at our feeder and partner schools in the locality. It’s vital to support the community and education across the borough and I’m very grateful to FWC for their support.

Filtered Water Coolers Ltd also supply mains-fed water drinking water systems to keep staff and students well hydrated and enable them to concentrate better throughout the school day. Chilled, fresh great tasting drinking water is now available to teachers and over 1400 students and as well as being a healthy option can be a really important element to boosting exam results as Mark McDermott of FWC Ltd explains: “Drinking water regularly especially through exam periods is good practice for both pupils and teachers alike with one recent study reporting exam results were improved by 5%. This was mainly down to water improving concentration but also it was found students who took water into exams were much less anxious.
