Forge Guest Singer Supports Katy Perry

A local singer/songwriter from Birmingham who supported Katy Perry on the Midlands leg of her UK tour recently played at Ormiston Forge Academy.

Esther Turner, an 18 year old vocalist who also plays guitar, performed at the Forge Factor talent show as a special guest. She performed a handful of songs including covers of songs by Rihanna and Pharrell Williams as well as her own songs. The audience of over 1,000 Forge Academy students thoroughly enjoyed her performance.

The concert, Forge Factor, was the culmination of a period of charitiable events which raised over £1,500 for Sports Relief and was won by singer Madison Smith who is a year 8 student.

Esther has been performing for 7 years and had her own song ‘Butterflies‘ played on BBC Introducing Birmingham. Another track ‘Only You‘ was broadcast on BBC Introducing Hereford and Worcester. In April 2013 she released ‘Dreams‘, a 10-track album of her original songs. Esther played at the LG Arena this week after being asked to support Katy Perry.

Principal Andrew Burns said, “Esther is clearly a fantastic talent and the whole academy would like to thank her for playing at Forge Factor and congratulate her on supporting one of the biggest artists on the planet, Katy Perry.”
