A Level Congratulations

It’s hard to define success. If it’s defined by levels of achievement then our 100 per cent pass rate at A level this week is a clear measure. Perhaps it’s our 56 per cent pass rate at GCSE, which is one of the best in the area? Ultimately I’m delighted for our students who have worked hard and for our staff who have developed and nurtured talent. These results are the best set of results we have ever had. The predicted average A level grade for our students based on prior data was a D. Now, with an average point score of 216 we are above a C. This means that students who study post 16 at Forge do a whole grade better than they are expected to do. Fantastic! It feels like success.

Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.
Henry Ford (July 30, 1863 – April 7, 1947) – an American industrialist, the founder of the Ford Motor Company, and sponsor of the development of the assembly line technique of mass production.

Success has to be more, and I’m not being greedy. As Henry Ford intimates, success is part of a process, that process continues beyond Forge. Our beginning starts in September with new year 7 students joining us, relationships are built and developed and the outcome is a team effort. The best part about this is being able to stand back and watch confident, mature and proud young people collect their results. They are much more than success stories. They’ve laughed and cried, won and lost, ran and walked, shouted and whispered, lost themselves and found themselves again; we’ve supported them in a safe environment and watched them grow into capable young adults. They are ready for the next stage of their journey. Success.

Congratulations to you all.
