Two Forge Students Take Part in National Dux Award

Mr Watkins took two year 9 pupils (Chelsea Sheen and Jivan Singh) to Warwick University yesterday to take part in the national DUX award. ‘Dux’ – Latin for leader or champion – is aimed at raising the aspirations of all pupils, to go to university, including top higher education institutions.

During the day, both pupils attended a fascinating and engaging chemistry lecture by Dr Nick Barker. They also took part in 3 separate workshops focusing on mathematics, business management and ancient history. They had a tour of the University Campus and were rewarded with a free year long membership of IGGY (International Gateway for Gifted Youth), an innovative learning resource developed by Warwick and used by almost 3000 students from all over the world.

Both pupils represented the Forge exceptionally well through their behavior and participation during the day and stood out alongside pupils from schools all over England. Chelsea and Jivan will be producing a PowerPoint presentation in order to share their experience with their year 9 peers at the Forge.

Thanks to Mr Watkins and congratulations to Chelsea and Jivan.
