End of Spring Term

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I wanted to take this opportunity not only to share the end of term arrangements but to share our excellent news.

OAT Review
We have just had a review from our sponsor, Ormiston Academies Trust, who found that Forge is Good with Outstanding Features. This was an independent review carried out by practising Ofsted inspectors; needless to say we are delighted. I am incredibly proud of our staff and students.

A copy of the report can be found at http://tinyurl.com/z5enct8. If you want a hard copy of the report please send your child to main reception to collect one.

Year 7 Netball Champions
Our year 7 girls became South Sandwell Netball Champions after completing an unbeaten season. They only conceded 3 goals all season. Congratulations to Olivia Jacques, Georgia Hingley, Danielle Roache, Mackenzie Sheldon, Lauryn Bennett, Lucy Rutter, Megan Maull, Jessica Smith, Katie Figg and Miss Tonks.

Ben Young – Karate
Ben will be representing Great Britain in the WUKF World Karate Championships this summer. Congratulations and good luck to Ben.

End of Term Arrangement
Term ends at 1.25pm on Thursday 24 March. We will have an extended break, as per Friday arrangements, for lunch. Periods 1, 2 and 3 will be normal lessons, period 4 will be in form groups.

Start of Term Arrangements
Term starts at 8.40am on Tuesday 12 April. Students will spend periods 1 and 2 in form and assemblies. Normal lessons commence after break.

Forge Has Got Talent/Non-uniform – 18 March 2016
Friday 18 March is our annual Forge Has Got Talent show. Students in years 7 – 10 will be involved in the show periods 3 and 4 whilst year 11 and sixth form prepare for their summer examinations. This will coincide with our termly non-uniform day, £1 per family, which will go to our Declan Osborne appeal. Declan Osborne is a sixth form student at the Forge, who suffered a serious brain injury when he was knocked off his moped. Our students want to support his family to raise money for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Brain Unit.

Equipment and Bags
The OAT review did pick up that some students in years 7 to 10 were attending the academy without a bag or appropriate equipment. Students are expected to attend the academy with a school bag and a pencil case with equipment. Whilst most students do this conscientiously some regularly forget their equipment. We will be making a real push on equipment and bags after Easter. If any families need support with this please contact the academy office.

Many thanks for your unwavering support.

Have a great Easter.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Burns
Principal
