Changes

I’d like to start this month by congratulating all of those year 6 students who have been allocated Ormiston Forge Academy as their place to study from this September. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you and your family to the Forge family.

It’s a day of great change; it’s the realisation that year 6 students are coming of age and will soon move up to ‘big school’. Our job is to make that transition as seamless and as comfortable as possible. We work with the primary schools throughout the year and over the next few months we’ll step this up and work even closer with the students who are coming to us and put some value-added events on for students who are going elsewhere. We want to be able to support everyone making the change.

The biggest testament to the work we do comes from our current year 7 students, who have only been with us for 6 months. They’ve grown, dealt with the change brilliantly and embraced the Forge spirit with vigour. They’ve been supported by students from other years, who all know what it’s like to move,, and our staff who care deeply about every student who comes through our door.

I think the biggest shock to these young people are the amount of opportunities and options available to them at Forge. We like to provide our students with supportive empowerment and watch them grow with responsibility and hard work.

Many parents ask me for my advice on how students can be the very best they can be. I believe it’s finding a careful balance between embracing opportunity, hard work and being happy. These are the cornerstone of life at Forge; in fact they are probably the cornerstones of a successful, fulfilled life.
