Change To GCSE Grading System

Dear Parent/Guardian

As you may be aware, the Government is changing the GCSE grading system from A*-G to a number system of 1-9. Year 10 is the first year group to be affected by this change.

This new grading will apply to English and Maths GCSEs, the other GCSE subjects your child will be examined in will still be graded A*-G.

In order to explain these changes fully and give year 10 parents the opportunity to meet with the Heads of English and maths, we are inviting you to a Parental Information Evening. In addition, Mr Bradley
(Head of Year 10), Mrs Butler (Senior Leader for Progress), Mr Grant (Key Stage 4 Pastoral Leader) and I will be on hand to answer any questions and discuss any issues afterwards.

The session will be on Thursday 8 October 2015 at 4.00pm with a repeat session at 5.15pm if this time is more suitable. The sessions will take place in Hall 2.

We would appreciate it if you could indicate whether you will be attending on the attached slip. Your child needs to return this slip to Mr Bradley or Mr Grant in the Key Stage 4 Pastoral Office by
Monday 5 October 2015.

Yours sincerely

L Mason
