A level success

In another year of consistent achievement, the vast majority of Ormiston Forge Academy Sixth Form students who received their A level results today will walk straight into the courses and universities of their choice having achieved the grades they need.

Ormiston Forge Academy operates a large Sixth Form, in Cradley Heath, with over 300 students and nearly half (48%) of the 122 students collecting their results today will attain 3 or more A level (or equivalent) passes, 68% with 2 or more and 99% with 1 or more. Whilst attainment is pleasing, the progress Forge students are making is demonstrable with 13% of them achieving the gold standard of AAB grades (or equivalent). Some notable results:

  • Daniel Baggott A B B B
  • Truly Bishop A* A B
  • Ryan Burgess A A B
  • Jessica Price A B B
  • Danni Dyke, Gemma Magson and Zoe Stokes – all achieved the equivalent of 3 A* grades in Health and Social Care

Principal Andrew Burns said, “We are delighted to sustain our high standards from last year, which we were very pleased with. This shows a consistency in performance and improvement in many areas. However, it is important that we look beyond statistics and remember that these results represent the achievement of real people – committed, hard working 18-year-olds who can now move on to the next stage of their lives.”

He added, “As an academy we have a job to do. Parents and students need to know that, with the necessary effort on their part, the academy will help them to deliver the goods. The academy has never been happier and it is our job to drive the results every year and insist on excellence from our young people, they deserve the best.”

Head of Sixth Form Lisa Mason said, “I would like to congratulate all our students on their achievements and praise them for their commitment in 2 years of study that has presented them with a variety of personal and academic challenges.”

Professor Toby Salt, CEO of the sponsor Ormiston Academies Trust added: “Congratulations to staff and students at Ormiston Forge Academy on their impressive sixth form results. Students are continuing to rise to the challenge with the support of academy staff and it is fantastic to see so many students gaining the qualifications they need. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
