£3,000 for Local Charity

Yesterday our students bid for a £3,000 grant for a local charity through the YPI (Youth and Philanthropy Initiative).

After several excellent presentations the judges chose Special Olympics Sandwell as the recipient of the the money. Congratulations Charlie, Chloe, Becky and Jodie who delivered the winning presentation.

These four, year 10 students visited the team at their training and learnt about Special Olympics, working with the team members, finding out why Special Olympics is important to them and how it makes a difference to their lives. All four students plan to continue to come to training as volunteers and help the team to decide the best use of this funding.

Sending all of our love and best wishes to Special Olympics Sandwell.

YPI Youth and philanthropy Initiative is a combination of in-class learning and community development experience that gives pupils the tools to understand and engage in community advancement. Pupils research, meet with and advocate for a local charity and then compete for a grant for that charity.
